From the dense, industrial sprawl surrounding Toronto comes Dogwhistle, a post-hardcore/noise band committed to making the loudest music known to mankind. Juxtaposing the noisy, groovy fringes of 90s hardcore like Snapcase, Unsane, and Shallow North Dakota with the scorched-earth sensibilities of Uniform and Diamanda Galás, Dogwhistle’s five-song debut EP Textile Waste is a blistering takedown of the rampant labour exploitation, police brutality, and militarized violence that define today’s geopolitical landscape.
